What is Neurological Chiropractic Care?

Most people know what a chiropractor is, but few understand the important differences between various types of chiropractic techniques and methods. While many people may associate chiropractic adjustments with popping and cracking to align the bones of the body, neurological chiropractic care offers an entirely different experience.

This type of care, focuses on helping your body heal itself, which is what it is designed and "hardwired" to do.  It gives your entire body the opportunity to heal correctly and be healthier because it is correcting the cause of the symptom.

There are different techniques chiropractors use for nerve-based care.  The techniques that Dr. Weston utilizes are "tonal" based.   Tonal techniques find ways to stimulate the nervous system to prompt the brain to make whatever shifts best suit the person.  No one is the same and no one heals the same.  Each body knows specifically what is required to correct and heal itself, your brain needs to be in control of this.  If your brain can't communicate properly to your body, your body wont' be able to properly function, or heal.

What a tonal chiropractor is looking for are signs of stress and signs of ease within the body.  Tense muscles and connective tissues; shallow, tense breathing patterns; and restricted movement patterns are all signs of stress. A decrease in muscle tension or  tissue tone; slower, more relaxed breathing; more fluid movement patterns; and in some cases, a change in demeanor are all signs of more ease.  Our bodies are supposed to change from moment to moment, day to day, and year to year depending on what we are experiencing internally and externally.   Things that we eat, drink put in or on our bodies, people in our lives, changes in our typical day are all things that our nervous system has to keep constant awareness of and make changes or adapt appropriately. The chiropractor looks at patterns in the body on each visit.   Patterns that don’t change and adapt over time are often sign that the body is struggling and is in need of help.

Each body is also different, which tonal chiropractic acknowledges by tuning into what the individual needs. For some people, big manual adjustments that are associated with traditional chiropractic work are the most effective way to communicate with their system. But for many, the input can be a light, but intentional touch, the smooth passive movement of a joint, or even an instruction to breathe slowly and deeply that helps create the most relief.
